Engage in DEI Learning

Our Training Philosophy

Action starts with awareness and knowledge. DEI trainings can provide your employees with the competency, capacity, and competency to implement DEI. DEI trainings are an investment in education, help organizations move toward consensus about the value proposition of DEI, and create a plan of action for DEI. Without this alignment, any work to develop practices and policies will likely face significant challenges, conflation, and lack of team cohesion, which can lead to wasted financial, human, and time resources. Additionally, such misalignment can deteriorate faith and credibility in leadership within the organization and from external stakeholders who are privy to any internal fractures or volatility.

Organizations with high levels of understanding reflect employees and leadership that are able to independently ideate on solutions for DEI and involve a much higher level of internal initiative and leadership on DEI issues and challenges. Sample Past Trainings

This training is focused on unpacking the definitions of “allies,” “advocates,” and “accomplices” as seen through the lens of power, risk, and privilege. This training will help move individuals from valuing DEI to understand their unique ways of embodying those same values through action. Participants will understand how their actions and willingness to step into bold, more courageous forms of support can create DEI-aligned or unaligned relationships in their lives. From there, participants will begin understanding how this same framework can be adapted to understand how your organization's actions or inaction can contribute to DEI-aligned conditions within the workplace and in society.

Many organizations wait until a DEI emergency to quickly define how they should communicate, position their people and services in their market/community, or define how they partner or do not relate to external social issues and organizations. This service begins with the end in mind through the facilitation of a one-day, in-person retreat for all staff to deepen their understanding of how your organization’s power and position can drive social change

Our PAC framework will advance how your organization partners with other organizations or communities, how it advocates for those who hold your organization as accountable to advancing the work of social equity, and to identify how and where you challenge others within your community or sector. Your staff will leave with a greater consensus of your organization’s positioning and stance on the path and pace of change.

This training is a tactical deep-dive into conversational practices that support persons and workplaces committed to facing the conversational challenges inherent in diverse environments. Session content includes explanations of the "four forms of communication," understanding "stake analysis," tactics for conversational centering of minoritized and marginalized persons/communities, and how to understand the "cost and value" of being the subject of a DEI- focused conversation while managing the emotions of others who may have varying levels of power. This talk is primarily presentation-focused, with time for Q&A at various points in the session.
