Careers and Experiences at Justice Informed

Who We Hire

At Justice Informed, our employment motto is “we are changing the face of expertise.” As consultants, we create and provide strategies for reimagining and catalyzing organizations, communities, and people toward equity. We welcome the experiences of those who have historically been denied the ability to have value assigned to their ideas, or have not been compensated for their brilliance. Justice Informed exists to break the traditional consulting model. We are building an emergent work experience where people, ideas, truths, and possibilities come together for the betterment of our world—while centering the needs, experiences, histories, and demands of those who hold minoritized and marginalized identities.

Life working at Justice Informed

We are also a growth stage company, so things are VERY fluid. Your first few months are going to be overwhelming. Seriously. This is not a workplace where work is fully directed: all team members are given incredible amounts of opportunity to ideate, plan, and lead. We hire people because they are brilliant, and we provide them space to be just that. We simply ask that you always show up with your highest and best. The person best for this team is an adaptive, creative, highly succinct-yet-linguistically complex person who values and can communicate the importance of sound operational practices, inclusive cultures, commitment to relationships, and has a network they can’t wait to engage. They are able to manage multiple problems, not one project. They aren’t single-issue specialists, meaning one type of “ism” isn’t their only space of expertise. They know that DEI is far more than recruiting talent, or talking about “the business case for diversity.” They know how to take real initiative, and have excellent “field vision” to see where the company, client, or team member needs to go, or what they need to have to be successful. They know they have a role, but that their happiness depends on their ability to engage the unexpected, while maintaining their intellectual composure and emotional stability while with clients or engaging in JI projects. We work with anyone, we just ask that you teach us to understand you so we can create a wonderfully accountable and socially ambitious environment for all team members. You may have a background in one field, or a long history of jobs. Come as you are and be whole as you come.

Day-to-day, you can expect to spend your time leading and learning. You will be doing a blend of PowerPoint/seminar presentations, creating or writing up new frameworks or articles to publish on pertinent social issues of our time, connecting with past, current, and potential clients, attending networking or community meetings to ensure Justice Informed is always listening, visible, and engaged in the communities our clients serve or reside in, and scoping/cultivating new clients. Our clients are varied, so you will always be in a learning position while also being responsible for guiding others. The environments are varied for our DEI team. One day you may be in a university to onboard their front-line team with better community engagement practices for non-BIPOC staff who are working in mostly Latinx communities, and another day you will find yourself in a corporate office where most leadership staff are white males and the head of DEI is a black woman with a small budget and big hopes for change the next day. Our reputation is one of high energy, not shirking from tense conversations on inequity, sharp thinking on organizational practices, and on-your-feet humor that lightens the mood in tense, ambitious rooms in a way that reminds our clients of weekends at a cookout, or fun times with their friends in the boardroom.

Administrative Team Roles

Justice Informed is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Contractor. All persons, regardless of their identity, background, or experiences, are invited to apply for positions they feel qualified to hold. The word “regardless” often is a limiting word that assumes identity does not affect experience or outcomes. We want you to know that we wholeheartedly welcome those holding marginalized and minoritized identities to see our company as a safe, accountable, welcoming space to grow their abilities, showcase their brilliance, and feel centered in decision-making, company growth opportunities, and professional development support.
